VW/Audi Auto boxes and mapping......

Will an auto box on a VW or Aldi 1.9 130bhp tdi be able to take a map/upgrade up to say 170bhp + whatever torque that makes?
Seeing as the bridge is on the horizon I thought I would post the question.
I think the boxes are a bit different to the old torque converter styles as they have low power loss mechanisms compared to the classic slush box.
Help and advise appreciated, and it does have to be an auto soot chucker as I've already got the blanket and tissue box for the rear shelf

They will take the map just fine. Might not take as much torque as the manual but the handful I have done have helped improved the changes and made them smoother 

Just make sure the gearbox oil / filter etc has been replaced as this in itself can help improve the performance of the gearbox

Thanks for the input,  I'm not looking to go mad as I dont need to go above 30 for 99% of my driving just looking for a bit more zip off the line.
Think I will keep the Audi and sell the golf

Then a decent remap will make a big difference  did an auto A4 the other day albeit an 09 plate but the bloke was very happy at the low down response. Said it was no longer like playing Russian Roulette when pulling away at a roundabout

That's exactly what I dont like about the A4, its abit hit and miss on take off from a moving or standing start.
Its an 04 1.9tdi 130bhp.
The golf is the same year and engine type but poverty spec in comparison to the A4, just feels crashy and unrefined as well as being a slush box

The Audi is a six speed (I think) which you can push the stick over to the left and manually go up and down.
My dad said its chain/belt driven(?) and a bit different to the Golf, so I take it that it is one of the turd boxes you suggest
I know it went back a few years ago for a new drive train which would have cost 5k save the dealer warranty my dad has on his cars

Its a CVT box then. And yeah its pretty much driven by a belt lol

Think Morgan 3 wheeler and you get the idea 

If its been replaced then you will be fine 

The Audi i did the other day had had a new box at 100k......

The A4 has 50k fsh on it with the box done about 5 to 8k ago, my dad is very gentle on his car so its never been thrashed before or since.
It also had some bearings and other bits related to the funny Audi front wheel drive set up, full service history and totally mint, so its the most virgin car I will own so far
If you say the boxes are weak then maybe I should just leave it as it is and keep my life trouble free
