Hi Guys,
Ive just got my hands on a 1999 1.6 Cabriolet in need of some serious TLC after being garaged for about 2 years.
It took some abuse from one of its previous owners (judging by the camber on ONE of the front wheels!)
It needs an MOT and suspension overhall so probably going to slam it on coilies and fit new topmounts/track rod ends/wishbones for an MOT and better ride.
Anyway - I also have an issue with the brakes. Firstly, the rear passenger is stuck on...secondly (and most importantly) the nice set of wheels ive been saving for this occasion are 5 stud...
This cabriolet has read disk brakes already so I dont know if this makes life easier for me?
Ive got a Mk3 GTI that I will soon be scrapping so I can take any parts I need to off that.
I remember reading a while ago about an easy way to convert the Mk2 4 stud rear discs to 5 stud (I think) and wondered if anyone could give any suggestions on the best way forward?
Worst case scenario I guess is that I replace the whole rear running gear off the GTI but that sounds overkill?
Cheers

Will

At the rear you will need everything off the gti from the stub axles outwards plus the splash guards. At the front you will need the hubs and everything bolted to them including the lower balljoints.

Not sure what hoses you will need, rears are probably the same i'm guessing.
