Coil pack replacement loom 1.8t aum
« on: 16 April 2014, 08:36 »
Over the weekend I fitted my coil pack replacement loom as the standard one was old and breaking down.

After removing the air box and battery tray I unplugged it all from the coils and worked my way towards the ecu replacing it with the new loom as I went so I couldn't go wrong or so I thought lol

Behind the battery is a plug where 4/5 wires needed to be changed over, my mate had the tool to remove the wire terminal from the plug so I could just slide the new one into the plug rather than cutting and soldering the wires together, making sure I got the correct wires in each port same as the ecu end too.

After double and triple checking everything was done and connected I started putting it all back together time came to start the old girl up, she started fine and ran a lot smoother :-)

However my traction control button no longer turns the traction control off, my speedo seems to read 15/20 mph more than what I'm actually doing and the little screen on the clocks that has mpg, average mpg ect has stopped working altogether :-(

Has anyone one else had any problems or can anyone point me in the right direction?? Could it be wires ecu end or plug behind the battery??

Any help or ideas

As all the problems seem to point toward the clocks, I would have think you have nudged something
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

There is a wire in the battery area that can mess with the clocks if it's shorting
