Heated seats
« on: 14 April 2014, 21:45 »
Hi,

I've just bought my 2001 51 plate 2.0 gti. I think it has the winter pack, it has headlight washers, climate control and supposedly heated seats.....

There lies my problem, my dials for heated seats light up and function as they should but they weren't warming the seats up, I checked under the seats and the green plug is connected which I believe is the heated seat wiring??

Naturally I checked the fuse also, no fuse fitted in number 44. Try to fit a 15amp fuse but there is no wiring behind fuse 44?? The switches are connected to the big green blocks on the dash board so at least some loom is there

Is the other end of the wiring taped up somewhere else?

Does the passenger side work?

No mate, I'm confused that there is the loom at the switches but not at the fusebox?

You are looking at the correct fuse aren't you? The diagram behind the fuse box cover is for US spec cars so you need to reverse it for UK ones.

So on your car, bottom right as you look at it will be fuse 30:

Wow, that's embarrassing!

Thanks ever so much, I'll look and update my findings.

Right, the correct fuse 44 is fine.

I can leave the heated seats on and they don't get warm,

Should I notice I change in rpm of the engine when I turn them on, like when I would turn the rear demist on or use the heaters etc? As at the minute I'm not getting any feedback from the seats whatsoever?

If the fuse is fine and the switches are fine then my money would be on the elements being burnt out.

Bugger, are they expensive/easy to get hold of?
