Arch Modification...
« on: 03 September 2005, 10:44 »
Hi Guys n Gals..

ok, still having issues with my arches.. Thinking of doing the following.. bending the arch so its level with the plastic trim.. this will give me more room and more surface area to stick the plastic arch to the body. Any advice on bending metal, or do's and don't's would be great!.

Check out my little picture below.. trying to explain what i wanna do.. think of this looking head onto the car.. but with the front cut away.. these are the front wheels. Think u could do something similar to the rears also.

Cheers

Hmmm, reckon you'll need paint after you mod it that way mate.... I've heard that if you heat the metal up a bit with a hot air gun you might soften the paint enough to not crack it, but whatever you bend it with will probably mark it anyway....

And, if you bend the arch up and out, wont the plastic want to come up and out with it? There's a lip on the inside of the plastic molding that attaches to the inner lip of the wing isn't there?

I saw some shoddy arches at ED38 today  I think you should just bend the bottom edge so all the cracks and marks are still hidden behind the plastic.

Cut lines upwards and bend it that way maybe?
