Bakcbox fitting prob
« on: 02 September 2005, 23:46 »
Ive just bought a magnex backbox and the size of the exhaust pipe is narrower than that on the back box that comes as standard where do i get a reducer or enlarger from? Also should i get a new back pipe to back box and chop it off before the standard back box or attach the backbox to the old bit and chop it again?  :undecided:

i just wanna know whether its best to get new rear section and chop and add reducer or use the section already on and chop and use reducer and also where to get the reducer from, I can handle the rest myself, thanks

The easiest way to do it is probably to cut a bit off the end of your old back box section and use it as a sleeve to fit over your new section. Use plenty of jointing paste. I had the same problem but my new bit was larger diameter then my old one but the principle is the same.

if you fit the back box with a smaller diameter pipe then  you'll be restricting the flow of gases and pretty much making the car breathe worse than it did in the first place. i'd say new back box time! i have one for an 8v i think, ernst twin 80mm round pipes, not stainless tho
