This is ridiculous!!

The most simple way to solve is this is not to go to the press, or to call them up complaining...

Just change your name to David Goliath, lets be honest it's a pretty cool name!

No f**king way bro! I would go to the press, they love that sh!t. I'm not surprised you're pissed off, I really can't help but think there must be another reason tho bro, no company could be that negligent?

aint you the guy who normaly helps other people out with things considuring the law? No need to spaz about with your stupid remarks or shall i say stupid pictures... If you dont have anything usefull to say then please dont post in my thread. I only put this up as i am realy vexed due to a name differance the insurance hiked up by 1k.

Have a look at;

http://www.fca.org.uk/about/what/protecting/financial-crime/sanctions

You'll probably find they are matching your name to someone on the sanctions list and as a result they don't want your business.

Its realy unfair to screw someone with a name on a list. I had a quick look at the link. Its something to do with terrorists lols
Might have some c*nts knocking on my door as i used the word terrorist.

I didnt get the picture comment either  was it meant to be funny?  :undecided:

Its not like its a stupid question.

If you ask for opinions then expect both positive and negative. Ask a question then if you dont have a answer dont bother replying to it.

Well allow me to retort.

From the OP's post I take it he is implying that there is a tacit act of racial profiling going on. A made up name is used and then he uses his real name "Hussain" and the quote is far higher. Why's that then, must be racist?

Really? No.

Racial profiling is not used in generating car insurance quotes. Far from it. Actuaries base their quotes on statistical analysis of decades worth of claims, crimes and perceived risk.

N.B. The OP makes no direct claim of racism, I took it as implied by the , but happy to retract the above if not. But my premiss remains the same.

So, why the difference?

Probably a combination of technical FUBAR on their end, and him maybe not deleting browser cookies when changing the name. They store all the information you give them. Regardless of how may times you change/re submit your details.

It’s against the law for a trader to discriminate against you because of race when you buy goods or services.

Race means being part of a group of people who are identified by their:

Race
Colour
Nationality
Citizenship
Ethnic or national origins.

This is covered by the Equality Act (2010)

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/contents

So we can assume with a fair degree of certainty that Go Compare and the insurance company providing the quote(s) didn't give you a higher one because your surname wasn't Smith.

Now. There are many factors in car insurance that are contrary to "obviousness"

E.g.

More expensive quote for a car garaged overnight versus a car kept on a driveway.

Why?

Well, if the claim/crime statistics show that more cars are stolen form garages in your area than driveways, it follows that those quotes are higher, because the perceived risk is higher.

But, a persons name has no bearing on how much an insurance quote is.

I thought it reasonable that all the above was known to the man on the clapham omnibus. But alas, no.

Hence my reply.

For my second reply to "XMC1980" That's just for the idiotic reply, and the fact he thinks that they're "Negligent"

But hey. Don't listen to me. Why don't you write to Gocompare and ask them, "why?"

I'm always happy to help everyone, regardless.

Jonathan.

thank you jonathan for that reply. That was a much more of a mature reply. Anyway i didnt want to sound typical and say oh the insurance companies are racist blah blah. All the details were the same. You say about cookies, i didnt delete them as i didnt know that they made a differance. I will try a mates name. But as said before i did a new quote with only a different name nothing else was different.

Jonathan,

My "idiotic" reply was because I had assumed that the reason behind it was due to some form reason involving his surname? Is it wrong to assume this? Yes

So yes maybe should have thought about what I was writing when I did, but why would you post pictures like a 2yr old with a new phone? Your very comprehensive and educated answer at the end could have just been posted in the first instance?
