Power hood problems
« on: 19 October 2003, 20:54 »
Hi ,

My power hood is getting a bit lazy. Seems to be low on fluid. Anyone had any similar experiences?

try topping the fluid up - I think its just brake fluid? it goues in the little brass bolt just above the fluid reservoir on the unit. Its a bit tricky to fill, use a syringe or spoon it in!!
May also be a sign your battery is in need of replacing
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

Thanks Adam,

Will top up the fluid. I swear it was full the other day though and now its below min. Thanks for the tip about the syringe. Are you sure its just brake fluid?

I'm pretty sure they gave me dot4 when I asked at the dealers - best to check though

Sometimes it does seem a bit slow, but I put it down to the battery not being a full power. Seems to be fine when the car has been out for a run.
It's a fairly simple set up, so I dont think there can be much at fault with regards to the speed of it.
Try oiling the joints etc... might be a bit of friction causing it ???
