Spluttering

Afternoon everyone

My 1999 gti turbo I've noticed the last couple days in 2nd and 3rd holds back splutters and drives through it when I ragg it it's fine just happens when I drive normal and today cut out twice while driving started straight back up and drove

Any ideas

had those symptons twice -1st time it was faulty maf ,2nd time was a faulty fuel pump which died not long after .
mk3 gti"s and vr6"s,present a silver mk4 anniversary on adjustable coilovers.

Have you scanned it ?
AGU 1.8T. Mods done: R32 front bumper, turborev smic, ngk platinum spark plugs, uprated pancake pipe, demon motorsport boost hoses, forge 007 dv, forge engine cover, r-tec stage 1 map ,home made cold airfilter ,run on 98 ron fuel and castrol edge 0w 40 oil. Advanti racing alloys.

AGU 1.8T. Mods done: R32 front bumper, turborev smic, ngk platinum spark plugs, uprated pancake pipe, demon motorsport boost hoses, forge 007 dv, forge engine cover, r-tec stage 1 map ,home made cold airfilter ,run on 98 ron fuel and castrol edge 0w 40 oil. Advanti racing alloys.

as above get its fault codes read , fuel pump wont show up though .

Tick over is ok then all of a sudden it will rev up not to high and go bak down to normal. Just waiting on a mate with code reader

yeah get it scanned and might as well clean the throttle body out with carb cleaner and a cloth, hold the throttle open with the engine turned off and wipe all the black crap off and also the butterfly.

Plugged in the reader and it came back with error couldn't read the car . Any idea what that means
