Slipping into reverse!
« on: 03 April 2014, 17:16 »
Right guys and gals my first issue to tackle in the mk2.
Pretty much if I'm not concentrating when selecting first, you can knock the stick over past the reverse wall into reverse. You don't even have to push the stick down to go through the wall.
I've bought my bushes,

BUT what else do I need to tighten up the gear selection and the problem with the wall?
What parts exactly do I need
Cheers Ash

You might want to get one of these to help with alignment once your bushes have been replaced:

Saved me a load of hassle in the past.

Might not even be the bushes.

Lift the gaiter and see if the 'stop' is in good nick first.

If it's not the stop it will be the cup the gear stick sits in. From the pic, the kit you have will help with gear linkage but doesn't have the cup part included. Have a look at the gear linkage post in the maintenance section for fitting advice.

If the gearstick can be lifted up in neutral or in gear then it is the cup at the base.

Thanks a lot guys, I've also bought the gear ball and housing today, hopefully that'll sort the issue
