Flies on Pure White GTI
« on: 30 March 2014, 20:22 »
Hi Guys, over the last couple of days my car has become a magnet for thousands of tiny black flies.

Weathers been a bit warmer so that probably has something to do with it but I've never had the problem with any other car. This is the first white car I've had.

Anybody else experienced anything similar?

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said this is your first white car! They are simply more noticeable

Get the car well waxed and wash them off regularly.

The thing is they're alive!!! You can see the buggers buzzing all around the car then landing! HELP!

Seems very odd . I've had a few flies but never a swarm. Silly question but have you applied any sort of wax to the paintwork that may be attracting them?

No, just Autoglym shampoo. Was just wondering if anybody out there knew why they're attracted to a particular car (other than it being a GTI of course!).

I have noticed with both my current car and previous car (both white) I get the same problem with live flies on the paintwork.  It is more apparent after I have cleaned the car.  Is it also a thing where the white paint is bright when the wheather is sunny and we know that flies and insects are attracted to light?

Cleaning my MK6 Candy White yesterday both it and I were being attacked by swarms of horrible little flying things. Must be a combination of the sun and the white paint!
