Golf MK2 GTi 1988 external door handle

Hi guys can you tell me if I have the correct door handles on my MK2 Golf Gti 1988? They are not working properly and all the ones I have found have a small lever on the inside edge to open the door with, whereas these pull away from the door itself:

I am keen to return the car to original spec, unfortunately I do not know what that is...

The ones in the picture are mk3 door handles. The correct handles have a small trigger http://api.vwheritage.com/_img/products/16383037/64807A61-4B06-4BAD-8D63-7250AFDCFA2C.jpg
