RCD 310 DAB and Climatronic Compatibility...

I'm looking to change my standard RCD 310 (LCD blue display) for an RCD 310 DAB (LED), purely for the LED display instead of the current LCD one.  Question is will this stereo be compatible with the climatronic feature?  My wife has this stereo in her Polo (which doesn't have climate control) and there's is no option to turn it on/off in the menu screen.

Were later GTD/GTI's fitted with the LED version?  And does the Climate Control plug into the back of the stereo?
