Front Seat airbag plugs
« on: 21 March 2014, 14:40 »
Hi . I have a 1.8t 2000 model which had Heated  Recaros but the drivers seat was gubbed .
Ive stuck in a full set of std seats from a 2001 1.6  but the plug for the air bag is diff from the one on the Recaros but both have 3 wires . {Recaro seat Black , Blue , Brown},, {2001 1.6 Seat , White, Blue , Brown}.

Anyone any experience of swapping over either the socket or plug so that the wiring for replacement seat can connect upto the wiring harness on the floor ?

Obviously Im hoping if this works the airbag light will extinguish .
Id obviously disconnect the battery first .
I have a picture of the plug from 1.6 golf alongside the socket from the Recaro seat but cant seem to upload it .
Cheers Frank

Easy enough to do you just need to connect yor black from the recaro to the white wire on the 1.6 plug and the blu to blue and brown to brown job done

The airbag light still won't got out though, you'll need it resetting via VAG COM

Yup airbag light is still on , went out initially for a blissful 3 seconds then came back . Does it have to be a VAG garage ? Any idea of cost ? Thanks for the info much appreciated guys . Frank

if you can find anyone with vag com near you it will be cheaper than a vag garage etc
