BW29

Good evening all,

Just been told by the dealer that my car will be in BW29 - is this lead time normal? I see from other posts orders in late Feb have been coming in at build weeks in the late teens. Could this just be the dealer basing it on a worst case?

Is that a speculative build week from the dealer or confirmed on the online tracker using your order number? I was told to expect 16-20 weeks, which would tally with your bw 29 if you've only just ordered, but once order confirmed with factory the car was built only 4 weeks later.

I believe it was speculative from the dealer. I will give the tracker a go and see where that gets me- hopefully it will be sooner. Having had a demo for 4 days the other week I am itching to get back behind the wheel of one.

As above, you can expect that to come down.  I ordered in February and was initially told 16 weeks, that then dropped down the BW 19 with late May delivery, then dropped down to BW13.  It then dropped down again to BW 12 and is currently on it's way to Emden.

That's for an R, GTI's seem to be being pushed through much more quickly.

You were most certainly correct about the build week coming down- now BW19 and the dealer has advised it is likely to drop maybe a couple of weeks. Hopefully it will make a nice birthday present if it arrives in time.
