New GTD
« on: 16 March 2014, 12:16 »
Hi all. I ordered my new GTD four weeks ago and was told by the dealer the car will probably be ready to pick up in about five months. Seems a long wait for a bog standard GTD, never mind. Haven't had a build date confirmed yet of course. Is the general experience that five months is about right ? How many weeks in will I get the build week confirmed ?

Hi, mine was about 5 months. Ordered at the end of September and picked it on 1st march. I had a call from the dealer at the end of December advising a build week of week 5 ie last week in January. Car arrived with the dealer late February and was ready to pick up on 1st march. It's so long time but definitely worth the wait.

Hi

thanks very much for your reply, sounds like 5 months is par then, just as well I'm not in too much of a hurry. Yes it is a good car and a bit of a bargain compared to, a very similar, 120d Sport or M-Sport. But of course BMW were quoting two months rather than five.
You running yours on standard diesel or Shell V-Power?

Hi,
Just running on standard diesel so far. I also considered a BMW 1 series but actually preferred the look of the GTD and you get a lot more 'gadgets' as standard. The build quality is superb too.

We tried a 120d M Sport, very nice but way too expensive, GTD was easily as good, although that handbrake (or lack of) on the GTD will be weird. Running current GTI and previous (R32) on V-Power, I think a small benefit, just about worth it. V- Power diesel is expensive though.

Just an update on this, if anyone's got this far. New GTD ordered mid Feb 2014, just had build week confirmed as April 28, so I guess that puts the car in my garage early June. Quicker than expected.

For the last reply, just call me Old Dude or GTI Dude, or soon, GTD Dude.
