Dripping sound when engine turned off.

Just to add to the various squeaks, pops and rattles we've been having. I've noticed this since day 1 but thought nothing of it. Maybe it's something cooling down and creaking slowly as it does but when I've driven my car for a decent run (20 mins or so) when I park up and turn the engine off. It immedietely sounds like water slowly dropping from somewhere near the passenger side of the car. I've had this since day 1 but overlooked it thinking the other bangs and rattles were more important.

Anyone else have this and know what it might be?

I've not really used air con. I have the climate control on manual. You can hear it from inside the car, very clearly. The best way to describe it would be the sound a radiator makes when the water is draining off. Or a slow drip of water from a roof onto the floor.

It does it regardless of the weather too. I can probably even record the sound. Never had it on any previous cars. The car makes so many sounds it's like a robot.

Sorry - there are so many GTD's on here!  :rolleyes:

Is there a humming at the same time? If so it's probably like mine and it's the electric water pump for the turbo ....

Of course if there is actually water on the ground - you have more of an issue .......  :undecided:

Not necessarily - a little water always runs off the air con pipes (at least it did on my mk5 GTI) it can look quite alarming when the weather is warm :smiley:

I'll keep an ear out for the dripping noise though..
