Inlet manifold query
« on: 31 August 2005, 20:21 »
I have 2 16v Mk2 Golf GTi engines.  1 with a 40mm inlet manifold, 1 with 50mm.  Can anyone tell me what the difference is & why there are two sizes available?

Cheers

Not sure why, but the 40mm will give better touque lower down in the rev range but less top end than the 50mm!

I have just got hold of a 42mm one and am going to swap it for my 50mm, as i don't floor it too much, it should make the car feel more responsive!

Easy to spot the diff between em, 40 mm inlet pipes are pretty much straight all the way, whilst 50mm bulge out a fair bit around the spark plug area.  Side by side its obvious :)

Edit: piccy
