Not sure on what you need for the swap but i know a fe poeple that have renovated gtis or had the enigine out for other reasons that have gratly benefited from having a new loom made by a custom wiring compnay, it cured so many "mystery" problems it was unbelievable

err converted my 1300cc to a 16v in a long wkend so kinda! i imagine you'll need the obvious things like gbox, wiring loom (late fuse box type is preferable), ECU, exhaust manifold, fuel injection system etc etc

not sure if the intank fuel pump is needed or not? someone will know. Obviously I had to change all these including fuel lines, pressure regulator etc etc so not sure if they are the same items in both guises

I would of thought that all the fuel lines and pump would still be the same.

You should only need the complete engine, loom and ECU+Fusebox. Also be handy to get the clocks too.

Next year i was thinking of getting one of those rebuilt tuned engines (But 16v) and thought it would of dropped stright in :O

If the 8v is the newer digifant you'll defo need the fuel pump, injection sytem including the metering head aind airbox as the digifant system is completly different to the 16v K-jet.  The 16v also uses a different ISV which has a seperate control module behind the centre console. If your 8v is a K-Jet slightly more stuff is interchangable but not sure exactly how much?

Ideally you want a 2.0 16v lump from a MK3, the MK3s use digifant management just like the later MK2 8vs and its all pretty much the same, you'll need the ECU from the MK3 and I think you may have to make up a custom pipe between the 8v airbox & 16v throttle body.

Yup, think it was late 87 they swapped to digi.  Easy to tell, look at the airbox, if it has a load of pipes & gubbins going to the block then the engine is K-Jet, if it has 1 electrical plug and nothing else its a digi :)

Top pic of 16v shows K-Jet injection with related airbox gubbins, then naut2k5 post has a (huge!) picture showing 8v digi with single electrical connector and nothing else, and below it a pic of an 8v K-Jet engine ;)
