Follow on from my other post , Im more than likely to be needing a replacement gearbox, As far as im aware the 2 original fit boxs for a 8valve gti are , ACD for a early spec, poss mechanical injection only ? and AUG for latter spec ,poss PB engine only original fit, Im aware that AUG has the taller 2nd gear, and this is what i have at the momment.
Any way people trying to sell me the mk2 8valve boxes are telling me their box codes,most of which turn out to be CHB's which im led to believe are early mk3 boxs with a larger input shaft diameter same as the mk2 16v box , 2Y .
Now id preffer to keep the original spec box , AUG , but not finding too many about, can any one shed any light on the CHB box interms of fitting to my 8valve pb engine, as far as i can see , these people with CHB boxs must have ran with the larger dia clutch center plate , whether they knew it or not, thanks
