ANOTHER LEAK!

So, my new MK6 leaks just like my old one. I got a Golf MK6 once they came out in 2009. Just a 1.4 3dr basic model. It leaked through the passenger door top and bottom and resulted in the car spending a total of 45 days with VW over 4 different periods. The car ended up needing the whole carpet replaced as it was soaking and starting to go mouldy and smelly.

When my 3 years was up, I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to a 3dr GT TDI 2.0 140 with all the toys with an excellent discount. A few times while driving i could have swore I seen the odd drop of rain water coming from the top of the drivers door while it was raining. And yesterday after getting into the car after a light shower, I noticed some water on the passenger seats plastics, I have uploaded some pictures. The seat itself was also a little damp.

How is it possible for 2 brand new Volkswagens to leak? This car has a few little issues such as creaks/ interior rattles and squeaking/rattleing doors and a strange engine shuddering (as if its going to konk out) when coming off the clutch in first gear sometimes. I was going to wait until the service in May but I dont think I can wait that long now. I seriously have no luck at all

Its a well documented prob m8, theres a few fixes available
Like replacing door seals, adjusting door hinges, etc, if your
Covered under warranty make sure to explain to service manager
About having hinges adjusted etc, ive had the same faults
Fixed on my golf, with success thankfully, youve gotta tell
These people in service how to do there jobs lol.

Thanks for your reply. A girl I work with has a brother in the business and she recalls him saying worst thing VW can do is start adjusting doors as once they are adjusted once they will never align 100% again or something :/ I think i might request that they replace door seals and the part which comes in contact with the paintwork. Hopefully in doing that they both stop the leak and that annoying squeaking noise coming from the seals that everyone seem to be getting.

Its just annoying that these cars priced in @ around 20k+ do things like this, all this money for a car that stresses me out :@

Don't get stressed about it bud you can buy rubber cleaner that should stop the leaking and the squeaking I would go down that road before getting things replaced have a look in the detailing section there should be some ideas in there

Earlier this year I got some Krytox Oil (as recommended by forum member GS WAX).  I got it to resolve rattles/squeaks caused by door seals and it worked a treat.

However its main application is for maintaining the weatherseals on the VW EOS roof.  Might be worth a shot before you start adjusting doors etc.

I got it from TPS  - 30ml@£28 + VAT, so a bit pricy but worth it.  TPS sell it under the name Krytox oil but it's also know as DuPont GPL 105.  Part no. G052172A1

@ charlie, I have previously used gummi pflege, no use at all but it did help my dads Bora with similar issues.

Booth11, I had been reading a thread earlier about you having the same issues, so glad you found a fix I found this on eBay:

Yes mate, that's the same stuff.  It's best applied with fingers and a little goes a long way.  Good luck!

But just one thing. Upon spending a little while with the car today (finally a few days off work!) It seems to be the inside felt type seal which makes contact with the whole upper part of the door. I can make the noise while inside and outside the car by pushing anywhere on the top of the door.

Is this stuff OK to be applied to the felt seal thing?

Cannot wait to get this sorted. Finally resolved a rattle/creak in the rear too

Yes it's fine to use on the felt part.

I think that was the bit that was causing the noise on mine.  To be sure, I used it on all the the seals including the felt bit around the top of the doors.  I applied it with my fingers without gloves.  Try to avoid getting it on the paintwork as it's a pig to get off!

Great stuff, thats it ordered £41.50 im having to pay to fix creaks in a car well in excess of 20k, whats that all about?!?

The way you mentioned not to let it come into contact with paintwork, will it be ok since the felt bit does contact the paintwork when the doors closed?
