Bird Mess Residue
« on: 27 February 2014, 13:54 »
Hi All,

I've got a 2001 Mk4 1.8T in dark blue, with the unfortunate residue of bird sh*te tarnishing my paintwork. It's gone unnoticed during the week as I travel in and home in the dark so at weekends is when I notice it. I've tried polishing, waxing, etc and it's still there. I'm not a 'detailer' by any shape of the imagination, but I do like a clean/waxed/polished car. Anyone have any ideas of the best way (and cheap please) way to get rid of these marks? I thought about Farecla G10 finishing solution?

Cheers

You'll probably need to get on a rotary polisher. Is it new crud or really old stuff as you may not be able to get it out at all?

Depending how long it has been there may depend on the results, but I tend to use auto finesse citrus degreaser works well for me on carbon grey car, and light blue car. Only about £6 for a bottle.

If its had a repaint at some point then chances are you will need to wet sand that area and machine polish it. Just a machine polish over the area will make it a glossy mark.
