CMS File Formats
« on: 24 February 2014, 19:16 »
Hi guys, I'm picking up my gti on Saturday and wanted to get my music ready for then. I have a 64gb sd card and has transferred all my iTunes music on it.

It's saved in AAC format, the VW website says its compatible but I wanted to confirm now so I can change all 58gig to mp3 :)

Thanks

You can do it in iTunes but it'll take time and you need the disc space to essentially have two copies whilst the transfer is happening

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well :), what I wanted to know is will the car read and play aac format, or does it have to be mp3? Ta

I'm pretty sure the car will read AAC okay, but you'll only see album artwork if it's actually embedded in the AAC file.  Most stuff on iTunes has the artwork held separately from the AAC file, but there are ways of embedding the artwork yourself.  I'm sure there are some threads on here about doing that.
