OMG that Diff!!! :)

Finally get the chance to thrash the pants off my gti PP on some proper country lanes that were something close to dry and the diff is incredible fun :)

You can get it turned in and settled in the corner and just floor it! Hauls you round and pretty much tears your face off  :grin:

I'm still slightly over correcting at the moment, because you 'expect' understeer im putting in slightly too much steering lock and finding that when it hooks up im suddenly heading towards the inside of the road!

Im planning to go down to route napoleon this summer and really learn how it behaves, should be fun  :cool:

And this is why I feel the GTI will be more fun than a Golf R around corners in certain conditions, I still believe the latest generation haldex still suffers from the usual understeer  :sad:

The maintenance bulk of the cost in the performance pack is the VAQ.
It's nice that the Golf R gets the GTI PP brake setup too but it does have more mass to deal with.

I feel exactly the same way as you… Not thrashed it very very hard yet, but round these country road corners, it's on rails. And yes, you expect some understeer, but it just doesn't happen. I'm LOVING it!!!! :grin: :grin: :grin:

I'm currently driving round in my standard GTI. Picking up my performance pack GTI on Saturday. Cant wait to compare the two and get to grips with that diff  :smiley:

I'd really appreciate hearing an honest appraisal of the GTI with diff and no diff as a comparison :smiley:

Ditto - it was a no brainer for me - but it's good to hear you can feel it! Is that in "normal" or "sport" diff settings? :)

Most of my little drive yesterday was in individual with sport everything (inc diff) and comfort suspension, gives a really good fun 'bumpy roads' car
I'm not sure ive yet tried to feel the diff in normal mode

Its a very counter intuitive feeling, flooring it just as you think 'im pushing pretty hard here', easy to get on roundabouts too

ps sorry to anyone I alarmed in the Charlwood/newdigate area of surrey yesterday :)
