oil buzzer
« on: 23 February 2014, 19:06 »
my oil buzzer comes on between 2000-2500rpm when the engine is warm, If I hold the revs there but it goes off if I rev the car and it doesn't come back on unless I hold the revs between there for a few seconds, I've replaced the 2 sensors and gave it an oil change and it's still the same?

Might be worth dropping the sump and seeing if the pick up pipe is clear.

okay dropped the sump and replaced the oil pump today the sump was clean nothing it it Atall exept oil of course, it is definetly pumping oil but the buzzer is still coming on when the engine is warm, I also noticed the light flickers when the revs drop to idle.

also I broke my baffle, so I put the 16v one on that I had, and my oil on the dipstick is really high but there a definetly only 4.5 Ltrs of oil in it, is the 16v dipstick different ? maybe I need that.

although there's is no noise coming from the bottom end, there's was tiny pieces of grit in my sump the last time it was off after I fitted my cam, just noticed that my oil is really black looking again and I only changed it 2 days ago

okay begining to get worried as my tappits have become noisey although it is pumping oil, I removed the sender and oil came out at what can only be called high pressure

I would change the big end shells pronto. and oil and filter. I had that same buzzing in my last mk2. jeez it nearly drove me up the wall. but all went quiet when I changed the bottom end. when I stripped down the engine I had taken out I found the big ends were loose in the con rods. they hadn't seized or spun but they must have lost there grip due to excessive heat or sumit like that. they were well worn to. so if I were you I wouldn't drive it any further until its sorted.
