I've been told that it takes less than 24 hours to get from Emden to UK port, but it seems that my dealer likes to under promise and over deliver. Better for him to say it takes a week and it turns up much earlier than visa versa.

I believe my car will be going to Southampton?

Probably for the best then eh.

I don't know where my car is going in regards to port. Don't even know which dealer it is! Lease company are organising delivery for me.

I even asked am I not able to collect from whichever dealer, but they said no sorry, as it is coming directly from the VW compound and not a dealer as such...

Just got a text notifying that it has left the factory and is on stage 5a.

I believe it's three weeks from now ? A week to get the boat, a weeks crossing and then a week to get to dealer and prepped for delivery?

The boats seem to take less than 24 hours from Emden to either Sheerness or Grimsby. African Highway left Emden last night and is due in Grimsby around 5pm, and the Schelde Highway left the day before and arrived in Grimsby this morning.

Don't know which of these my car might be on, and I'm too lazy to contact my dealer.

Just got an update from MarineTraffic - the boat 'Emden' is bound for Sheerness, it's as we speak still docked but should take 24hrs or so as mentioned by pjr and Jimmy.

I got the 5b text this morning, seems like they update at 8:45 AM as I got my 5a text exactly two days earlier. As I'm down south, I'm expecting my car to be on Emden arriving at Sheerness tomorrow with any luck!

I have just been told that if you ask your dealer for a screen dump of the order it states which dock it will go to.  Mine states Sheerness.  It seems a lot of you are getting te 5b text about two days after te 5a, which is Saturday for me, so if it is similar I guess my car will be on a boat on Monday and in the country Tuesday.

Have to wait to see how that pans out.

Evening, I was a build week 9 GTD so hopefully my breakdown of the timescales I went through over the last few weeks will a be of a helping hand. My car is due to be delivered on the 28th of March.  (it was ready on the 18th but the car is coming from JCB Medway to Scotland )

I didn’t start tracking until stage 4

Ordered 7th November 2013

4) Build week 9, build commences 23/02/14

5a) Car complete and has left the factory 28/02/14

5b) At dock side compound Emden port 02/03/14

5c) Car on boat 11/03/14

6) Car offloaded and sitting in Sherness port compound 13/03/14

7) Car is at dealers and ready for collection 18/03/14

Looks like in total it was 23 days from build start to being ready for collection.

Hopefully this breakdown is helpful to someone.

That is helpful, thanks for that! So it looks as though the 10th will be when it is ready!

Not a problem, I know how stressful the BW to delivery wait is. (Like a kid at christmas )
The VW and boat tracker were a nightmare, i was looking at them every 10 minutes
I thought posting a break down of my experience and time scale may give you guys a better estimate of when to expect your cars.

JCB are delivering it to me, other wise i would have been at the front door of their showroom at 6am on Tuesday lol

This may sound like a stupid question, but I genuinely don't know. Do they loads ships and such at the weekend? I appreciate a shop at sea would still sale, but not sure if ports wind down to a skeleton staff.
