Think my MAF maybe faulty, any ideas?
« on: 20 February 2014, 11:41 »
Thought I would check my MAF as taken bits and bobs off my AGU engine and cleaning them. I took the MAF off and wondered how the car would run without it on.....It runs exactly the same, no idling troubles, no cutting out, no real performance gains that I noticed as some have said if the MAF is not plugged in it returns to factory settings and may help performance, not noticed that but still no troubles with idle etc?

How do I know if it faulty for sure?

Thanks in advance.

Scan the car if possible.

Also you can do a WOT run and log and see how much air is being recorded. I would be careful when fiddling with the maf.

I doubt it is faulty if your getting no difference with it unplugged, my vRS was loads better with it unplugged which all pointed to it needing replacing.

when my maf was faulty, unplugging it made no difference. once changed, difference was definitely noticable.

As Wayne says, if the MAF is faulty then the car usually runs better with the MAF unplugged.
