As above, I think you'll do more damage than good. I've seen cars that had them fitted and after it was removed there were obvious marks and scratches caused by the "bra" itself. Talk about counter-productive! Now maybe it was a poor quality / poor fit, but either way, they look very naff anyway.

It's crap when you see the first couple of stone chips but it's just going to happen, just like your new shoes will get a little dirty if you wear them outdoors

Just embrace the stone chips, see them as battle scars

My MK6 had thousands of them so I made a conscious effort with the new car to drive a bit further away from the car in front especially on motorways. Now all that does is invite idiots to squeeze in between me and the car in front creating even less of a gap!!

I must admit I quite like bras on the earlier Golfs but I could never have one myself.

Put into Google car bra damage.

As long as you don't step straight out into sh!te. My mate did that last week in a brand new pair of £80 trainers. His neighbour's cat (assumed) had relieved itself on his doorstep.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

As mentioned, i'm only looking at it for protection - so any other alternatives are welcomed.

How does stone chipping affect the trade in value at the end of a PCP?

Also, if it has gone through to metal, where do we stand on the corrosion warranty?

I expect it'll be accepted as normal wear and tear, it happens to every car unless you never drive it. If they are particularly  bad chips just do your best with a touch up stick...

Have a go with the chipex repair system. Its not perfect and does take some time to perfect but it will certainly mask the chip to a good standard

The front of my MK6 was terrible for stone chips. It was black so made it stand out even more.
I am a bit OCD about my car, ie don't park side by side other cars etc so the rest of the car was spotless.
Come trade in time out of 5 garages only one actually looked at my car to give me a price. I kid you not.
In fact the garage I bought the A1 from is 100 miles away so the first they even seen the car was come trade in day and even then they only wanted the keys to get the tax disc from it.

So I would say stone chips won't affect it at all. All though no doubt you will get dealers trying to get the price down because of it.

I've had the same experience when approaching dealers with a trade in. The average salesman in the dealers wouldn't see minor stone chips if they were on the tip of his nose. They won't care! Bear in mind that most posters on here are car enthusiasts who actually look after their cars as best they can and will be in much better condition than average. A lot of used cars going through dealerships are as rough as f$$k.

Also it would probably be peanuts for them to get it sorted.

Bonnet bras look worse (much worse) than the odd stone chip.
