Tyre advice please

I cant believe I have had my GTI for getting on 12 months now and I have only just realised that my front tures are "Ardenza"! 

I have always thought the handling in the wet / damp was awful and now it all makes sense, the back 2 tyres are Bridgestone Potenza's and I can only assume I saw the "..za" and presumed the  fronts were also Potenza's 

So, I am now in the market for 2 new front tyres and 1 rear as I have a slow puncture and don't think it can be be repaired.

Do I just get 4 new tyres? (Skint at the moment, plus tax and insurance due very soon  )

Or do I stick with the cheap fronts and just replace the rears?

Any advice on best places to get tyres from will be very welcome, I normally use etyres.

If I were you, I'd bite the bullet and get a full set of four.  Camskill and blackcircles seem pretty competitive on price, but just go on a few websites to get a comparison.

If the puncture can be repaired, just replace the fronts and switch them to the rear.  I had a slow puncture repaired couple weeks ago, only cost a tenner to do.

I'd agree with above, replace all of them and it'll be worth it! Camskill looks good if you have somewhere that'll fit them for you or I've always found Blackcircles very good if you want a fully fitted price.

Yes, blackcircles very good on fully fitted price, plus they give you a good choice of local tyre fitters.  Recently got a new front from them and chose a local independent fitter.  Arranged for tyre place to cross rotate fronts and rears at time of fitting and they didn't charge me anything extra.  Great service.

depends what your budget is. nankangs if you don't drive like a dickhead, or falkens if you do

Ross recommended eagle f1's in a previous thread so I went with them. Prices varied from £140 @ tanvics to £115 @ selecta tyre. Prices included fitting + vat. However tried an independent specialist and got them for £96 fitted which I thought was a bargain.

A mate of mine owns insignia Sri and got a quote from asda tyres online then went to local tyre firm who did price match.

Coming back to the F1's it's early days but so far so good. Certainty have more confidence in the bends - they replaced dunlops which were poo

If I were you I'd do what I did. Buy some Goodyear eagle F1's and put them on he back. Then stick the potenzas on the front. That way you will wear them out quicker and before you know it you will have a matching set of four without having to outlay for more than two tyres at a time. Simples!

Ignore the ratings on Camskill. I find them equal to the F1's performance and its what I will be refitting to my car

I never ever put cheap and nasty tyres on my cars, never skimp on rubber!

Same mindset here mate, those four little patches are all thats keeping you on the road after all!
