Urgent advice needed!
« on: 14 February 2014, 09:52 »
My v6 4 motion was running a bit flat so I bought some redex from Halfords. I asked one of the guys in store for it and he gave me a bottle which I put in my car along with a full tank of petrol. After a while the car started running really rough, idling fine but when I put the foot down it was juddering and really sluggish. I thought it might have been bad petrol but now my mate tells me they make 2 different types of redex, one for injection engines and one for carb engines. I don't have the bottle I used so can't be sure which the guy gave me so what I'm wondering is, supposing it is the carb one I've put in what damage if any will it have done to the car?! And is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks for any advice

I dont really know what damage it could do but i would never use redex only slick 50. I would call up a garage and ask the question bud

Thanks for the advice guys, I took it to a garage and they said it should be ok, just run through a full tank of high octane petrol and it shouldn't do any harm. I doubt very much I'll be using redex in the future anyway!

never ever ever use redex worst product on the market causes so many problems

if you want to use a product best one i have seen it forte a friend used it on his motor he knew it needed a engine he did a emission check and was a mot failure once run through the system and a engine flush it passed but it worked that well the bottom ended started knocking as it cleared all the carbon from the big end so bloddy good stuff
