i'm currently considering a vr6 conversion or a 1.8t conversion so this thread has been most useful - cheers!

although it would probably be easier to just buy a vr6!

VR6 would be the sensible way. but then it comes standard in the mk3. how about the V5 or R32 engine?? now thats different! just a thought, more expensive but it would be worth it.

I want the 150bhp diesel but I don't think the 6 speed box will fit!

ok, been a while. i had problems getting her to start. we now think it was down to the clocks keys and ecu
because they need to be a matching set. so i tracked down a new set from the Leon Cupra R 180bhp.
so i now get 180 instead of 150. i just hope they work, i should have them by next weekend?

The difference between the AUM 150bhp and the AUQ 180bhp is just the ECU map.
AUM runs 0.6bar boost and AUQ runs 0.8bar of boost.

When these two engines are mapped they give exactly the same figures.

The other two engines are AGU and ARZ which both run the K03 turbo unlike the
above which have the K03sport which is why AGU and ARZ's make 200bhp at best,
and AUM-AUQ 212bhp at best!

If you swap the loom, ecu, key and clocks you may need the MAF sensor aswell as these differ from engine code and may not work with a different setup...

The AUQ engines came in mk4 aniversary golfs which have 180bhp, TT's, etc.
They came with the slightly larger, slightly better k03 sport turbo which doesn't die off towards the top of the rev range like the k03.
The injectors are also slightly larger over those on the 150 engines.

The AGU engine has the 'large port' head. These are commonly used when going past the k0x turbo's giving better results @ 300bhp. the other engine codes seem to give better results when using k03/k03s/k04 turbo based setups.

A friend of mine has s AGU 150 engine running the k03 with a few other mods on the OE management and he says Jabbasport mapped it to 220bhp. :) I was told with the k03s on OE management you can get 230bhp and on standalone management you can squeeze that up to 240bhp before a turbo swap is needed.

thanx for the info...

ok, after having the engine 18months, and having it fitted 6months.
my leg end of a mate phoned me today with my ''MK3 GOLF'' revving
in the background!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was jumping around the pub like a dog with 2 pen15'!

he sent me a recording of it which isnt brilliant, but its enough
for me to get off on!!
he said it sounds like its missing, but in its defence, it has no IC or air filter
linked up at all, + it hasnt been running for 2 years plus.

im still chuffed though!!
