driver side calliper stuck
« on: 05 February 2014, 18:36 »
so you'll see my post below on fixing the lower bonnet catch, more or less immediately the driver side calliper seized up obviously completely unrelated, i got to work this morning with red hot brakes and not sure i'm going to make it back :-(

i jacked up the car when i got to work on the side were the central heating was coming from    and couldn’t even spin the wheel by hand, did the spit check (i know disgusting) and was hot enough to cook some bacon.

question is I’ve got a 14 mile trip ahead of me later, do i risk it or get towed? I’ve only had brembo discs and green pads on for 1000 mile or so what a pain.

Similar happened to me after car had been lying up.

Wheel off, caliper removed from disk then pump piston out enough to get wd40 straw in behind the dust seal and blast it, wind back in, pump back out, spray again. And if youre lucky it might free up

you might get away with drive home if you take it easy, probably good idea to replace pads as theyll be cremated

All done, i did the caliper exchange with gsf and wacked a new one one, gave the brakes a bleed and seems ok now, brakes better than before. Ready and waiting for next issue,

i did see a leak from my bottom radiator hose that needs sorting. Fun fun fun.

I'm thinking of having the engine all back out and rebuilding it soon.
