GTI - Exhaust Options/Compilation
« on: 04 February 2014, 01:08 »
Right guys, i'm personally looking for a new exhaust soon as the stock one in my opinion just isn't loud enough. As great as it does sound.

I thought i'd throw a few links of the main ones on the market so far. More and more seem to be coming out for the car recently.

I went to my local exhaust retailer the other day for a quote on a full custom stainless system. It includes a lifetime warranty and can be fine tuned to exactly how loud you want it to be. Can also specify what tips you would like.

Amazingly the price is £350 fitted. I will be getting one of these systems by the end of the month and will post some pics up for you all to see.

£350!? That's unbelievably cheap! Where are you located?  :D

I know, that is what i thought too! They have very good reviews from the locals around me with plenty years of experience.

The exhaust shop is located in Halifax, can't remember the name of it right now though.

One thing to bare in mind is that these exhausts are not dyno tested, the modification is purely for added noise/tone.

I'm guessing £350 is just for a cat back (although that's still good value).

Even with the custom ones, as long as the pipe diameter is the right size (2.5-3 inch), it has mandrel bends and good quality boxes it will still be better than standard for power. That said, just a cat back (irrespective of brand) is not going to give you loads extra anyway.

I had a Cobra Sport (new brand name of ExhaustsUK) and it was spot on, although the main reason I got it was it had the best looking tailpipe for an Astra VXR. I'm very tempted to get one from them again for the Golf when I get back to the UK.

Yep it is just a CAT-Back. I don't want the hassle of replacing the CAT etc. Been there done that on previous cars. Not worth the hassle imo.

The custom exhaust will have a small mid-box and a small silencer before being straight out the back. Similar to the Miltek and BCS systems already.
