I also saw your car on detailingworld and it looks fantastic.

I'm torn between the Candy White and Carbon. Its holding up my order

Any other pictures maybe side on?

Cheers.

Cheers mate!

Will get some side on shots for those who are interested.

I placed my order for the exact same car (3-door GTD) in white - I then spent several months being restless about it and eventually changed to Carbon Grey about a week before it went Build week confirmed! Definately the right decision I think :-)

I'm just worried about swirls, scratches and stone chips.
I had a Deep Black Pearl Mk6 and by the end of its 3 years the front looked like it had been pebble dashed. There were literally thousands of stone chips. Although I am quite anal about washing the car with the 2 bucket method, the car wasn't the best in the bright sunshine.

I've currently got an A1 in pure white metallic and while it doesn't shine up as well as a dark colour, it hides a multitude of sins.

So one day I've convinced myself its white for definite then I look at the likes of the Carbon Grey here and change my mind.

Its driving me nuts.

Yeah, I would agree black was a pain to keep clean and looking good. Carbon grey will hopefully be a little more forgiving! The paintwork was pretty spot on when I got the car so no need for any polishing. Hopefully the Gtechniq EXO will hold up well enough so a snow foam every so often will keep it looking good.

When cleaning it I did notice I have a couple of stone chips on the bonnet, not as noticeable compared to my black polo.

At last the sun shines and the car stays clear of mud from the country roads where I live.

What I would say about Carbon Grey is it is a bugger to keep clean even when it does not rain. I always use the local car wash boys to do it, great job too, but some water marks always drip and show. But the worse bit is the tailgate area, which shows up dust and within two days is pretty mucky after the due lands on it at night.

I think the answer with this colour is you need to wash it regularly. I might go for white if I get another one as they always are easy to clean and do not need wash leathering afterwards, except for the glass areas.

Interesting to read this as I am about to loose my candy white mk6 gt for a carbon grey gtd mk 7. Chose grey mainly cos the white always looks dirty! Oh well. A change is as good as a rest!

Perhaps a daft question, but why do some people abbreviate Carbon Grey to CSG?

Carbon Grey is know as Carbon Steel Grey in some other markets, such as North America. Same colour as Carbon Grey though.

Ah right, thanks. I've obviously seen UK brochures refer to both steel grey and carbon grey, but never carbon steel grey.

Thats what I thought until I recently saw the colour swatch on the wall of my local dealer which was captioned 'Carbon Steel Grey'.

Beware - 'Steel Grey' is a completely different (and lighter) colour (from the Mk.5 days).
