You will need a new gasket and new cam seal and I advise that if your engine is plus 60k then you should get new followers.

Im pretty sure there is a how to guide on here. I followed it when I changed my cam.

You cannot use a eBay chip with different cams as that chip is made for stick cams

Yes you can! Its been done and got gains. The cam opens the valve for longer and the chip richens the fuel mix so its better to have a cam and chip than just a chip!

In fact some ebay chip suppliers will supply different maps for specific cams so long as you tell them what you want and what you have. Mine cost me 40 for my ADY engine code and fast road cam, felt a lot better but never got it tested (why pay all that money for when you know it wont pull yer socks off). Khare got 138bhp with a cam, chip and box on his old 8v, we can argue all day about who's rollers and testing equipment it was but it was deffo an improvement on his in numbers and mine in feel.
The op might feel more as his car is not a lardy Mk3 which needs 170bhp to feel fast, let alone how many valves it has

Thats wrong about the cam. I had a 286 in mine that was for the mk4 gti 8v and the beetle 8v.

Ebay is best to get the chips and I got my cam from larkspeed
