In the end it turned out my original alloy that was leaking had a nail in it and had a bit of corrosion inside the rim so it was stripped down, wire brushed down and a full set of Falken ZE914s were fitted in the correct size....205/50/r15
Drove the old girl back 30 miles or so home up the motorway in torrential rain and it felt like a different car, smoother and far more stable, my other car has permanent quattro and used to decent grip and finally the MK3 didn't feel skippy in the wet, a result
