Having looked at the figures I was given around 11% off the car (I was originally told 10%, but the figures say differently), plus a lower APR rate than VW would offer. On the GTI I was only given 8% discount.
Found my original quote for the Golf R 5 door manual with keyless entry and winter pack
£4,500 down, £304.76 PCM and GFV of £16,885.85. Total over 3 years is £32,052.45. That includes the interest, at 5.9%. I have since added extra's to the car, so those figures have changed. That car costs £31,520, so the discount is negated by the interest, which is a pain in the butt, although I'm not in a position to buy outright.
I went through a third party finance company to buy the car, although they put me in touch with their preferred VW dealer who told me that the finance company were somehow undercutting the discounts they could give.
Strangely, the best quote I could get on a GTi with performance pack was £5,000 and £326 pcm. GFV was around £15,000 and interest rate of 6.3%, although that was through VW themselves.
