Sticking throttle-revving to 3k in neutral/clutch in.
« on: 01 February 2014, 16:13 »
Firstly, im new here, so Hello everyone.
Had my mk2 about a 2 months now. A '91, 5 doo, 8v.
I'm pretty sure my Dad was posting on here asking questions whilst he did work on it (username would be v8rumble).
We got loads of history with the car.

The car is now poly bushed with Eibach roll bars and strut braces front and rear and was lowered when we got it. It has what we think are golf BBS's on it (we didnt know that until after we'd bought them) as it HAD to have BBS's on it. I'm to add an exhaust, head and cam to it for liittle bit more ooomph. Its now seeing daily duty.

I drove to work this morning and it was all good. When I left it was revving itself to 3k with the clutch in and when in neutral, and driving itself along in the lower gears :P Would a litte wheelspin out the car park have upset something? surely not....
Any ideas?
Having driven a big daily for 3/4 years im not too sure what I should be looking at. The mechanism on top of the inlet appears to working ok.

if its not your throttle sticking then it could be a stuck open idle stabiliser valve or an air leak somewhere.
