Clicking when comming off the power
« on: 29 January 2014, 13:32 »
Hi everyone. I have a problem with my 2002 GTI Mk4 AUM 1.8t. The car has a stage 1 revo remap but other than that is completely standard with 30,000K on the clock. When coming off the power there is a click sound that seems to originate from around the gearstick or front left of the car, perhaps both, I cant really tell. Its loudest in 1st gear but can hear it in all gears, when backing off the power at around 1800 to 2200 rpm it seems to be most noticeable. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks 

Is it also jerky coming off the power if so it could be the dog bone mount (under the gearbox to stop engine rotation) mine is shot and does this I'm looking to get an r32 mount to replace it with as they seem to be the item of choice they just don't seem strong enough for mapped 1.8t's

GTI is not a trim level. It is a lifestyle.
1999 1.8t AGU, KO3s, forge 007p, silicone tip and charge pipe, oil catch can, SS turbo back system, pipercross CAI, g60/vr6 clutch, 40mm apex springs, drilled and grooved discs, stage 2 remap.

Yes, it seems to hold on the power when you come off the accelerator for a split second, maybe down to the remap and turbo running at a higher pressure, but there is a fair jerk coming off the power under hard acceleration. is the dog bone mount difficult or expensive to repair do you know? Car also rattles a fair bit over bums, just had the suspension bushes changed 5months ago so couldn't be them.

Extremely easy to do buddy 2x 13mm and 2x16mm iirc directly under the gearbox back to the bulkhead I would suggest looking into buying an r32 one for longevity but another 1.8t one will do you if budget is tighter
Euro car parts have the 1.8t version for 38 quid and the r32 one is 60 odd plus vat from the stealers
