Phoned the dealer today to find out how things are progressing only to be told the car has been delayed till the end of April / start of May. Turns out the car was built but now no-one can find where it has gone. VW are telling the dealer all they can do is reorder the car. Dealer is embarrassed and apologetic but still I'm not impressed 
Not good at all, feel your pain. Hope you get something sorted quicker than that, it's ridiculous as it appears that you ordered in September!!!!
On the face of it I don't necessarily believe that story btw, sounds like something might have happened internally at the dealers to me (lack of allocation / order swap / forgot to order in the first place) - especially as your tracker number never worked. 27K cars just don't go missing! Have you corroborated this with VW Customer Services or is this just the dealer's side of the story? I'd give VW HQ a bell if you haven't already to see what they can do - I'd be asking for an expedited build at the very least.
Of course, what they've told you may be true, but I don't see why you should suffer as a result of someone else's balls up.
