Wait till march for new reg or have now golf GTD.
« on: 26 January 2014, 18:25 »
Golf GTD Carbon grey on route to UK , ordered last August with agreed trade in price for 09 Scirrocco TDI
Do I have now 63 plate or wait until March for new reg, problem with this is current car will require oil service brake fluid service and intercooler pipe replacement before March wiping out the gains of waiting for new 14 plate??

i am getting my gti on wednesday..the dealer offered to keep it till the new reg...but in reality..how much difference does it really make? especially on a pcp where chances are at the end go it I will be hopping straight into another one

its still a 2014 car, theres no changes been made to standard equipment

as I do less than 8k a year the mileage after 3 years is still going to be low

for example..what do you thinks worth more at trade in, a month newer registration date or low mileage?

would a january 2014 with 24k miles on be worth less or more than a march2014 car with 36k miles on?

bottom line for me is I want to drive it now!  been dreaming for weeks

I guess it depends on your personal view, doubt it will make a massive difference to the re-sale value, £300-500 perhaps?

Mine is at the dealers and I'm waiting for 14 plate. For me, its my first ever new car so having it on the first day of the new reg is part of the experience. Other than that there is little benefit.

Not worth waiting imho... even more so if you want to keep the car for longer.
After 3 years price difference between 63 and 14 won't be much, even less after say 10 years.

Wait until the 14 plate, don't bother servicing your Rocco, i presume you are trading it in? If so let it be the dealers problem. A newer plate WILL be worth more come trade-in or sale.

More like £800 to a grand. Between plates count on £200 depreciation per month and then around £800 at the new plate. If you lease then it isn't a concern, but on a private buy it is.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Monkey Hanger is spot on, I ordered first week October and got mine last week, in NI it doesn't matter about March.

Waiting will be your problem knowing it is there.
