Renault Clio v6?
« on: 25 January 2014, 20:09 »
Just how fast are these things? managed to have a ping with one the other day as I tried to pass, he did the standard foot to the floor you're not getting past technique ! going from about 40 to higher speeds I definetly pulled a good few car lengths on him  all on a track of course

Question is are these beasts not as fast as on paper, 255 brake although maybe quite a weight to them?

My cars running revo stage 1 with a carbonio induction

Thoughts/opinions/discussions?

Ps I used to own a 182 and it was no match for even a standard mk6 gti!

A lot of it will depend on who is driving it..

Clio182 weighs nothing - it has plastic wings, thinner glass etc. V6 clio isn't as light AFAIK, but sounds fab. A close friend of mine who has had a 182 and now a v6 reckons the 182 is faster round a track as its more nimble.

But whatever the car, if a stump is driving its never going to be faster than a slower car driven well.

255bhp/300nm torque in 1400kg (175bhp/ton) would beat a GTI (156bhp per ton) i would guess. obviously if yours is stage 1 its probably 30 or 40 bhp more than standard.

if he's booted it from a constant speed while you were already accelerating past he's at a disadvantage straight away so not really an accurate comparison

He accelerated as I tried to pass so we were tied on speeds around 40/50 maybe he let off but the things still sounded nuts! Just because of the look of these things I thought he would of blew me away haha  most likely he wasn't interested in any sort of race so not a fair comparison I suppose was just curious on people's thoughts of these beasts

The other day on the motorway I overtook a DB9.  Is that the same thing?

I can remember when these first came out and I was in the paddock at one of the race track whilst watching my brother race motorbikes; there were ferraris and alsort dotted about yet a clio v6 was getting easily the most attention, they do look mean!

Clio V6's are actually quite crap, lardy, but boringly torquey, which is its downfall! It would take someone brave/stupid to drive one on public roads at a pace faster than a decent FWD car
Had they made it with a 2ltr 16v turbo with some grunt, then it would have bees a far better car imo

I guy near me had one about 5 years ago. I never spoke to him while he owned it but always admired it. He then sold it and got a red evo 8. I then asked why he sold it as it would surely be a classic?  He replied "its a rubbish car to be honest with you"
I guess for what it is and the hype they have, they must be a let down.
He said he bought the evo for the same money and its 1000x more fun.

I dont know if they are had to drive on the limit or a bit rear end happy but seams a lot better choices out there for the money.

But as I already said, these will be a classic and will only go up in money. It will be a investment.
