mk1 door locked shut help!!!

I was fetling with my beast the other day desperatly trying to get my project sorted (gutted i missed inter) and to my horror found that my passanger door lock had jammed shut i can get to the back of it inside the door but it will not respond the lock pull clicks in its lock/unlock position but the door release pull will not work or the handle inside .has anyone had any experiance with this problem i am totaly stuck with a mint mk1 with only one door that opens.......help

Have you tried removing the door trim and pulling on the connecting link that goes from the inner handle to the lock? This should release the catch if the door is unlocked.

Had a similar prob on my 4door mk1 when one of the rear exterior handles was not working and some comedian (who will remain unnamed) engaged child-lock on the door. Needless to say I wasnt impressed. Anyway, I was able to unlock and open the door by pulling on the lock/unlock and catch-release connector links inside the door.

Agree with sceptor, when you get the door open remove the exterior handle and look at the lever that opperates the mechanism, it often cracks and bends away from the mechanism. Steve.
