Sounds like they're gonna produce a kinda R 'Performance' edition like the GTI PP. A savvy way to eek yet more money out of customers, or could it undermine what is supposed to be the ultimate Golf?

I like the sound of it, don't think the R is much visually.  Some nice flared arches on the EVO would be nice...

Hopefully it's not like the Civic Type-R Mugen 20 (dubbed the Type-RR) when it was released.  It cost about £40K and was a stripped out tuned version of a regular Civic Type-R which cost £21K.  I was all up for getting one until i heard the price.

The Golf R is an immense car as it is now (if a little little ordinary to look at).  With all that extra power and torque it will be insane, let's just hope the price is not as insane as it's performance. You may have to sell your parents wife and kids on the black market to fund it.

I think its more of a Rival for the A45 AMG and to rival the new S3 Plus
