have I got a faulty oil level sensor
« on: 22 January 2014, 20:15 »
Hi dude's I've got a vw bora 1.9 tdi se pd 130 bhp. I've changed my oil pan/sump. I haven't put any oil in the car yet just waiting for the silicone gasket to set. I've been setting up my stereo so I've had the ignition on and ive noticed that the oil light hasn't come on. It should come on I'd think because they is no oil in it am I right. Could they be a problem with the oil level sensor or could it be something different. The oil light has been on before it flashed yellow but now it doesn't come on at all not even when I unplug the oil level sensor plug can any one advise and help me with this please

As you have not driven the car approx 100km (i.e. 60 miles) why would the orange oil light come on??
When you open the bonnet and the oil level was below the sensor threshold it assumes you have topped up and only checks again after 100km.

Hi thank you the light only came on ones it flashed but no writing came on with it telling me to stop and check oil level it was just a flashing picture of a oil can  then went off.  the bonnet was down when it did it. They was no oil in the car thought this was why it came on.. was just thinking a oil light should come on as there is no oil in the car .
