Golf Mk5 GTI radiator fan stays on permataly when the heating is turned on?

Hi everyone, Ive had my golf mk5 GTI for the last 12 months now and when i turn the heating on the big radiator fan runs permanently and sounds like a jet driving down the street. The small fan (air con fan i think) never comes on. If i turn the heating on before i start the car (just ignition on) the fan stays off but never hear it come on at all when the car has warmed up. Any Ideas guys? Thanks in Advance.

Mine also does this but I have mk4, think it's normal. But my fan alters in speed which which fan settings I want on in the car.
