I need bluetooth and cruise fitted.
« on: 20 January 2014, 10:16 »
My 2010 4 door desperately needs bluetooth phone prep fitted to its RNS 510 and I really want cruise too.
I'm in London and don't mind driving out of the capital to get both done in one hit while I wait. I have limited technical aptitude and would not know where to start with vagcom etc so I'm happy to pay a professional to do it right.

Currently looking at the Hazzydayz site as they're not far from London in Hertfordshire but their prices seem quite high to what I was expecting at £375 + VAT for bluetooth and  £350 + VAT for a cruise stalk to be fitted.
Does this seem quite expensive to anyone else?

Any other recommendation for this end of the country?

Should be able to get the cruise fitted for under £200, the part is only £60-70. The dealer retro-fitted mine for £162, before I picked it up.

My previous 2010 gti had cruise fitted at dealers cheaper than wot you have found and the Bluetooth I had fitted is on the vw website and that was cheaper also

The dealers can be pretty competitive when it comes to fitting cruise. I paid £140 to have it fitted to my previous Passat, so I wouldn't expect it to be any more than £200 now. I think it is more difficult on later cars tho' due to the stalk being different. If your main beam stalk stays pushed forward when you turn it on, as opposed to springing back to the central position as it does on later cars, you should be ok.

As for Bluetooth, there is a really good fitting guide in this section. You can buy a plug and play kit from ebay for around £200. It will need coding, but that is just a matter of ticking a box. If you print off the screen shots from the fitting guide, anyone with VCDS will be able to do it in 5 minutes. Unfortunately the dealers won't do it. I've tried to get them to change settings on my cars, but they'll have none of it.

My local main dealer (Alan Day Southgate) couldn't tell me what they'd charge for either these things, and then when I did eventually get a reply they said they weren't able to fit either and tried to sell me some Kenwood double DIN thing. I nearly fell over.

Mattyj: I really need someone to code it whilst its being put in, I don't have a huge amount of time to run about sorting it.

Mine was a December 2010 car so I don't see how the dealers can't fit Bluetooth or cruise muppets go to a different dealer

Dealers won't fit Bluetooth (other than the stick on Touch thing) as it's not an approved accessory and uses a non genuine wiring harness. Each car comes from the factory with a bespoke wiring harness depending on what equipment it has fitted. The additional wiring for Bluetooth is not available separately from VW parts. They just don't make it.

The kits that many of us have fitted use an aftermarket loom that plugs between the radio and the Bluetooth module, which VW won't guarantee.
