Engine mounts
« on: 17 January 2014, 22:54 »
A popular mod on the mk4 was changing the Dogbone engine mount. Stiffened up gear changes and made the car feel extremely solid.

Is there any kind of upgraded, polybush mount for the MK5?

Cheers

According to the APR website, stock to lightly modified cars should replace the sub frame mount, heavier levels of tuning should consider engine and transmission mounts too. Apparently.

Polybushing will always make for a tighter ride. You can buy a whole car kit from Awesome GTI for under £600, but for about 2.5 - 3 times that you can pay someone else to do it for you. The latter will be my preference.

I'm pretty mechanically minded so I'd do it myself. You're telling me you'd pay someone around 2k to polybush your car?!

Yes. Because I'm lazy. But seriously, if I had the workspace and time, I would do it. I dislike the idea of paying 2-3 times the price of the kit to have it fitted, but sometimes handing the keys over to someone who knows what they're doing is better.
