Central locking
« on: 17 January 2014, 16:53 »
Having issues with intermittent central locking problems. Sometimes there is no noise at all and it's not working. Ice searched and am going to take the door card off and check.

However, anyone know how to open the fuel flap?! I can't put petrol in it!!! Thanks all!
The day you see me in a diesel is the day there is no more petrol left :D

Pull the central locking fuse and lock with a key? Nobody steals my fuel and my  fuel flap does not lock....
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

I'll need to get it open first though? That was what I thought, just take the fuse out. Anyone know how to open it manually, or override the central locking?

basics here Jeynesey, so if its egg sucking sorry  :lipsrsealed:

Central locking is air operated, via a pump in the boot. so that should be your first port of call, is the pump working. might need to wire it straight onto a 12v source to test it

fuel flap, accessible from inside the boot I believe ( will search in a mo ) so u can open it to fill up

back in a mo

Oh and to open your fuel flap, pull back the boot carpet on the drivers side and you'll see a metal rod, pull that and it will unlock the flap

I normally blow down the pipes to see which ones pop open sometimes the bellows are ripped and worn, or the air pipe has come off the unit. good news if all other units are working it means the air pump is still good as the fuel flap gets the strongest air blow being close to the air pump.

open boot, bend down fabric trim drivers side below parcel shelf height and you'll soon see the locking mechanism.
mine gives me a lot of grief, popping the boot from inside is fun, especially as I'm not to agile!!, good luck
