Heated seats taking ages to warm up!

Hey folks, I seem to be jinxed when it comes to cars with heated seats, my last car (A3 Black Edition) was pathetic, 6 settings and only setting 6 was 'lukewarm' and kept turning itself off, my first foray into the heated seats 'adventure' was a MK5 Golf GTI and it was a retrofitting-nightmare, although it worked out in the end.

Anyway...Moving on, I have a MK6 GTD with leather, if I turn the heated seats on, one press of the dial 3 lights, so the highest setting...It takes, I would say around 10-12 minutes before proper heat is felt, but even then it's not exactly hot, put it this way, I could leave it on that setting for a 30 minute journey and not turn it off.

The passenger seat is the same, so I am thinking there must be some kind of setting somewhere within VCDS to adjust the temps or anything along those lines, 10-12 mins is not good enough really, I might as well wait for the heater as that would be quicker!

Anyone else find the same with theirs or have any ideas on a remedy?

Mine's the same in terms of slow heat up time - takes at least 10 minutes.  However, when the heat finally kicks in they do get very hot and I usually have to turn them down.  When I first started using them, I was convinced they didn't get particularly hot, certainly not like in the mk5, but the more I use them, the hotter they seem to have got, but that might be psychological.

I don't think you can change the temp with VCDS.

I would say mine takes about 6-8 mins to get hot, and setting 3 is too hot so i turn it down. It makes me feel like i have shat my self.

although if I have a big coat on I can't feel anything!!

    I gave a work colleague a lift once and halfway through the journey, he started to look very worried and started shifting about in the seat.  He suddenly asked if the seats were heated.  Think he thought he had shat himself.   When I told him they were heated, the relief was palpable.

There was a post somewhere that recommended switching the heated seats off after a few seconds then switching them on again a few seconds later. I've been doing that and it seems to be better, might all be in my head or my arse though

Hmm, sorry guys. Mine take between 2-3 mins to get really hot, as does the passenger side.

Although I must say that the level 1 setting is a waste of time as heat is very very minimal i.e. no point !

I start on setting 3, but once warm i always switch down to setting one as its just comfortable, I never keep it on setting 3, I dont fancy having a sweaty balls & crack for the rest of the days

I've been wondering whether it makes a difference if the climate control panel is on (not that it should make any difference as the seat heaters should work independently of that) but really waiting 10 mins or so is totally pointless, as you will get hot air from the blower after about 5-7 minutes of normal driving by which point you wouldn't need the seats on.

Try it without anything else on and see. This is what I'm going to do. 

Trouble is on these winter mornings it's more important to use the heater to get the car demisted first before having a warm bum.
